I'm back in Shanghai after a beautiful weekend trip to Hangzhou. China is full of surprises and its beauty is everywhere.
Hangzhou, the capital of Zhejiang Province, is now mainly known as the birthplace and headquarters of the Alibaba Empire, its natural beauty and significance in Chinese history as it was one of China's seven ancient capitals. It is home of the stunning West Lake, an UNESCO World Heritage Site.
I’ve prepared a little blog post with some pictures of the trip to give you an impression of Hangzhou. My host family and I explored the West Lake surrounded by pagodas, temples and bridges. In the centre of the lake is an island you can visit by a short boat cruise.
